Germany fully supports EU President Michel's effort for Azerbaijan-Armenia solution
Germany is strongly committed to a negotiated solution between Azerbaijan and Armenia and fully supports the efforts of European Council President Charles Michel to solve the issue, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a phone call with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday.
"The Chancellor expressed his rejection of the use of military force," a spokesperson for the chancellor said in a statement after Aliyev pulled out of an EU-brokered meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, dealing a blow to prospects for rescuing the peace process between the two countries. "The Chancellor underlined the importance of the greatest possible transparency regarding the situation in and development of Nagorno-Karabakh," the spokesperson added.
