The wild elephant which had attacked and killed two people at Renjiladi village in Dakshina Kannada district, has been captured by a Forest department team.
The prolonged operation to capture the elephant, which lasted three whole days, yielded result on Thursday evening after the tusker was traced at Kombaru in Mujur reserve forest area near Kadaba.
The tusker was tranquilized and then taken away in a truck. Two persons, including a young woman, were killed in attack by the elephant on February 20.
Meanwhile, the villagers, who were not entirely satisfied with the capture, demanded that the team stay back in the area to track and capture other tuskers troubling them.
Seven people were arrested after they started pelting stones at the forest department officials, police said.
