Renowned film actor Nana Patekar on Thursday expressed concern over the increasing burden on natural resources and said that population should be controlled. Speaking at the launch of Jal Jan Abhiyan, a joint campaign of Brahma Kumaris and Jal Shakti ministry of the Government of India at Abu Road in Sirohi, Patekar said that it is unfortunate that nature has given everything but it is not being rationally used.
“We have become 140 (crore) but the resources are limited. We talk about everything but do not talk about the population. It should be limited. Land and water are limited. In a true sense, water is life,” he said.
“Nature has given us everything but we are losing it. We do not understand it. Despite having everything, why are we not able to use them properly,” he asked. Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and member of erstwhile Mewar royal family Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar was also present at the event.
