US Military Warns Iran: Global Supply Chain Under Siege
Gen. Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, criticized Iran for threatening global supply chains, particularly targeting commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The US has launched Project Freedom to protect maritime routes and ensure the safe passage of vessels, warning Tehran against further aggression.
In a strong statement issued on Tuesday, United States Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, accused Iran of weaponizing global supply chains. He claimed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is holding the global economy hostage by continuously threatening commercial shipping.
Addressing the press alongside Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, General Caine criticized Iran's recent actions in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime passage for global oil trade. "Iran's obstruction in the Strait," he stated, "is an attempt to disrupt commerce and harm the global economy." He emphasized the strategic importance of the strait as it accounts for a significant portion of global oil consumption.
During the briefing, Gen. Caine outlined the United States' response through 'Project Freedom,' an initiative aimed at ensuring the safety of commercial vessels in the region. "With US military assets enhancing security, we are countering Iranian threats, ensuring freedom of navigation, and protecting international trade routes," he affirmed, highlighting the coordinated naval and air operations in the region.
