Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand recently concluded a pivotal visit to India, underscoring collaborative efforts between New Delhi and Ontario to bolster public safety and security. In an interview with CBS, Anand highlighted that both countries are working tirelessly at the highest levels to address these critical concerns.
Anand pointed to a joint statement issued after her discussions with External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, reaffirming the importance of law enforcement in bilateral relations. 'For the first time, we are engaging in a constructive, policy-oriented dialogue with India to ensure that public safety remains a top agenda item,' she stated.
The minister cited a recent meeting between India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Canada's National Security and Intelligence Adviser Nathalie G. Drouin as a testament to the ongoing cooperation. This visit was part of the regular bilateral security dialogue, following earlier talks between Prime Ministers Modi and Carney at the G7 Summit, as Canada seeks to enhance both public safety and economic relations with India.
