In a recent conference titled 'Russia and India: Towards a New Agenda for Bilateral Relations', Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov underscored the symbolic significance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Russia. Hosted jointly by the Indian Embassy in Russia and the Russian International Affairs Council, the event highlighted shared values and collaborative efforts between the two nations.

Lavrov articulated Russia's alignment with India's foreign policy ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning 'the whole world is a family'. He praised the cooperative efforts of both nations in international forums like the UN, G20, BRICS, and SCO. Furthermore, he confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit India following Modi's invitation, indicating a strong commitment to the bilateral relationship.

Addressing the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Lavrov expressed gratitude for India's balanced stance and its advocacy for conflict resolution through dialogue. He emphasized Russia's readiness for negotiations aimed at achieving lasting peace by addressing the crisis's root causes. Lavrov portrayed the Russian-Indian strategic partnership as a priority in foreign policy, backed by historical ties and growing economic cooperation.
