In a significant diplomatic development, India and China engaged in high-level talks aimed at rekindling bilateral relations. Gourangalal Das, India's Joint Secretary (East Asia), conferred with Liu Jinsong, Director General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on March 26 in Beijing.

The talks were centered on reviving dialogue and communication channels systematically to address mutual priorities and push relations towards a more stable trajectory. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted progress in resuming the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra by 2025, a culturally significant pilgrimage for Indians.

The MEA's official statements also revealed that both sides reviewed ongoing strategic initiatives to enhance people-to-people connections, resumption of direct flights, and joint commemorations of 75 years of diplomatic relations. Notably, recent meetings between top officials have injected fresh momentum into diplomatic and military dialogues, with a dedicated focus on advancing border management strategies and fostering cross-border cooperative mechanisms.
