In an ongoing effort to solidify India-US trade relations, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor conveyed optimism ahead of a critical dialogue involving an American delegation in New Delhi. The talks are expected to shape the trajectory of a proposed bilateral trade agreement between the two nations.
Tharoor addressed the media, highlighting concerns over US President Donald Trump's decision to enforce reciprocal tariffs starting April 2. He emphasized the importance of reaching a 'sensible outcome' that prevents negative impacts on India's export economy.
The US delegation, led by Trade Representative Brendan Lynch, will engage with Indian officials from March 25 to 29. Their mandate, as echoed by the US Embassy, is to pursue 'constructive, equitable, and forward-looking' trade discussions with Indian counterparts.
