Abu Dhabi [UAE], March 25 (ANI/WAM): In a significant humanitarian gesture, the UAE, under the directive of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has earmarked USD 64.5 million for Al-Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem. This substantial grant is intended to aid operational costs, support medical personnel, and enhance hospital facilities.
Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, reiterated the UAE's commitment to backing the Palestinian community. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration, particularly with the World Health Organisation (WHO), to bolster healthcare across the Palestinian territories.
The UAE's financial backing fortifies Al-Makassed Hospital's capability in offering specialized medical services, particularly in cardiology, pediatrics, and orthopedics. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus highlighted the UAE's role in enabling critical advancements such as modernized medical imaging and expanded training programs for healthcare professionals.
