On Monday, a coalition of NGO and UN agencies issued a global appeal for USD 934.5 million in aid, aimed at supporting approximately 1.48 million individuals. These include Rohingya refugees living in Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char, alongside local communities in Ukhiya and Teknaf, Bangladesh.
The appeal is part of the 2025-26 Joint Response Plan for the Rohingya Humanitarian Crisis, unveiled on March 24, 2025, under Bangladesh's leadership. This two-year fundraising initiative outlines how the international humanitarian community will address the pressing needs of Rohingya refugees and host communities, integrating sustainable response strategies.
Given the persistent conflict in Myanmar and reduced financial aid amid global crises, the international community's involvement is crucial. The Joint Response Plan, led by IOM and UNHCR with Bangladesh, unites 113 partners to tackle the urgent needs of the Rohingya people, especially the vulnerable women and children, who remain dependent on humanitarian support.
