For the first time since reclaiming his position in the Ministry of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir addressed the media in Tel Aviv, unveiling allegations of covert investigations by Shin Bet against the Israeli Police. Speaking at a faction meeting, he raised concerns over claims of far-right influence permeating the force, reportedly linked to his associates.
Ben Gvir firmly rejected these accusations as he highlighted the tenure of Police Commissioner Danny Levy, praising his three-decade-long service. Ben Gvir suggested that Shin Bet head Ronen Bar's directives to investigate Levy were part of a broader agenda to undermine his leadership, calling it an action against the commissioner's integrity.
Ben Gvir didn't hold back in labeling Bar a criminal, accusing him of orchestrating a conspiracy to disrupt security appointments. The minister pledged to solicit a government probe into the matter, declaring his intent to resist such attempts to muffle his political voice.
