The hijacking of the Jaffar Express has underscored the intensifying conflict between Baloch freedom fighters and Pakistani authorities. According to Information Secretary Khurshid Ahmed of the Baloch Human Rights Council, the incident illustrates a shifting power dynamic, with Baloch insurgents growing stronger.
Pakistan's military successfully completed a clearance operation, resulting in the deaths of 33 rebels, per ISPR DG Lt Gen Sharif Chaudhry. Despite no casualties during the final operation, 21 passengers fell victim to the terrorists. Initial attacks targeted a railroad track, taking over 400 hostages, including security personnel.
Criticism also arose from Baloch National Movement's chairman, Naseem Baloch, who slammed the U.S. Embassy for failing to recognize human rights abuses in Balochistan. His comments followed a statement on social media condemning the hijacking by the Baloch Liberation Army, alleging that the U.S. endorses Pakistan's narratives.
