As Prime Minister Narendra Modi readies for a two-day official tour to Mauritius, the island nation is marking the occasion as a special chapter in its long-standing relationship with India. According to Mauritius' Foreign Affairs Minister Dhananjay Ramful, preparations are marked by the deep historical bond shared by the two countries.
In a conversation with ANI, Minister Ramful highlighted the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement (CECPA) between the two nations, which came into force on April 1, 2021. He expressed a desire to make this agreement more meaningful, seeing it as a pivotal tool for Mauritius to act as a gateway for Indian investments into Africa.
Ramful emphasized the strategic partnership between India and Mauritius, built over decades of mutual cooperation. He noted India's crucial role in numerous development projects in Mauritius and the potential for Indian investors to explore sectors such as pharmaceuticals and education as the African continent emerges as a significant economic player.
