Mauritius' Foreign Minister, Dhananjay Ramful, on Monday revealed ongoing talks with India aiming at a strategic partnership to enhance bilateral ties, highlighting the deep-rooted historical connection forged since 1948. Ramful praised India's pivotal role in the development of Mauritius, acknowledging the extensive support and successful project collaborations.

Discussing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, Ramful expressed optimism about strengthening the trade agreement to benefit both nations. He urged Indian investors to leverage Mauritius as a strategic entry point into the emerging African market. He commended India for elevating the voices of smaller nations through its leadership in the Global South.

Emphasizing the importance of maritime security, Ramful highlighted the collaborative efforts between India and Mauritius under the SAGAR initiative, noting the significance of cooperative security given the region's geopolitical developments.
