In an unprecedented disclosure, the Israel Defense Forces have, for the first time, shared footage from a daring commando operation conducted in September, which targeted a subterranean Iranian missile manufacturing site in Syria. While details of the raid were previously speculated upon by Israeli media, official confirmation came only this week.

Elite commandos from the Shaldag unit executed the raid at the Scientific Studies and Research Center in Masyaf, approximately 200 kilometers from Israel, on September 8. The center, also referred to as CERS or SSRC, served as a production hub for strategic weaponry aimed at arming Iran's proxies on Israel's northern boundary.

According to the IDF, the facility produced a range of missiles, including M600F, M302, and M220, among others, intended for Hezbollah. The operation not only gathered weapons and intelligence documents but also secured a planetary mixer, critical for producing solid rocket fuel. Subsequent to this, Israeli airstrikes intensified after the downfall of the Iran-aligned Assad regime in December, targeting military assets to prevent them from falling into the hands of Islamist rebels.
