Tel Aviv, Israel - A wave of bird flu infections, specifically the H5N1 avian influenza, has been confirmed in two new locales within Israel's Sharon region, according to reports by ANI/TPS.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security swiftly responded by instituting a quarantine zone extending up to 10 kilometers from the affected poultry facilities. The latest cases were identified in a fattening turkey coop located in Moshav Kfar Vitkin, which is home to approximately 12,800 turkeys aged 12 weeks, and a breeding turkey training facility in Kibbutz Ma'in Zvi, housing about 7,600 turkeys aged 15.4 weeks.
This surge of infections adds to two more cases detected in these areas last week. So far, the current migration season of 2024-2025 has witnessed eight focal points of avian influenza outbreaks, with initial incidents traced back to Moshav Nahalal, followed by locations in Moshav Ram-On, another coop in Nahalal, Kibbutz Alonim, and Kibbutz Tzora between September and October.
