The Muslim Council of Elders, under the leadership of Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, has strongly denounced the car-ramming attack in New Orleans and the explosion outside a Las Vegas hotel. Both tragic incidents in the United States have led to numerous deaths and injuries.
The Council calls out all forms of violence and terrorism, asserting that such actions are in stark opposition to the compassionate messages of Islam, numerous sacred laws, and international norms. Reaffirming the need for global unity, the Council urges concerted efforts to tackle hatred, violence, and intolerance, while advocating for dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
In a gesture of solidarity, the Muslim Council of Elders extends heartfelt condolences to the U.S. government and citizens, alongside the bereaved families, and wishes a speedy recovery for the injured.
