In a strategic operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched overnight ambushes in the Jabaliya area of northern Gaza, leading to the deaths of dozens of Hamas operatives. The operation, carried out on Monday, was aimed at thwarting the regrouping efforts of Hamas, according to IDF reports.
The ambushes involved both gunfire and tank shelling, targeting terrorist squads spotted fleeing with weapons. This move comes after a devastating attack by Hamas on October 7, which claimed the lives of at least 1,200 individuals and resulted in 252 hostages being taken into Gaza, including both Israelis and foreign nationals.
The ongoing captivity situation remains dire with 97 hostages still unaccounted for, over 30 of whom have been confirmed dead. Furthermore, Hamas continues to hold two Israeli civilians captive since incidents in 2014 and 2015, along with the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014, indicating long-standing hostilities.
