INSIGHT UK, a social movement representing British Hindus and Indians, has formally voiced its opposition to the Oxford Union Society's decision to host a debate on Kashmir's independence. The movement cited the controversial inclusion of speakers allegedly linked to terrorist activities, raising concerns about the debate's integrity and potential implications.
In their letter, INSIGHT UK detailed accusations against speaker Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur, alleging his involvement in hate speech and ties to organisations under investigation for terrorism connections. Thakur, president of the "World Kashmir Freedom Movement," and co-founder of "Mercy Universal," has reportedly been scrutinized by authorities like Scotland Yard and the FBI.
The letter also criticised Zafar Khan, chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), highlighting the group's history of violence against Kashmiri Hindus and involvement in high-profile crimes like the 1984 kidnapping and murder of Indian diplomat Ravindra Mhatre.
