Dominica Honors India's Narendra Modi with Top National Award
Dominica will award its highest honor to PM Narendra Modi for his significant contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts to strengthen Indo-Dominican ties. The recognition acknowledges India's support in healthcare and sustainable development, celebrated during the upcoming India-CARICOM Summit in Guyana, November 2024.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, is set to receive Dominica's highest national accolade, the Dominica Award of Honour. This recognition reflects his impactful contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts in fortifying the relationship between India and Dominica.
Sylvanie Burton, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, will present PM Modi with the award at the forthcoming India-CARICOM Summit, scheduled for November 19 to 21, 2024, in Georgetown, Guyana.
In February 2021, under Modi's leadership, India provided 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Dominica, facilitating regional support. This award also commends India's assistance in healthcare, education, and IT sectors, alongside Modi's push for global sustainable development and climate resilience.
Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica, described the award as a gesture of gratitude for Modi's solidarity with Dominica and the broader region during pivotal times. Skerrit emphasized the honor as a testament to the robust ties between the two nations.
Upon accepting the award, Prime Minister Modi underscored the necessity of global collaboration to tackle critical issues like climate change and geopolitical tensions, reiterating India's dedication to working with Dominica and the Caribbean to address mutual challenges. The India-CARICOM Summit will provide a platform to explore shared priorities and potential collaborations among the member states.
