On Wednesday, US Central Command launched precision strikes targeting Iranian-backed militia groups in Syria. This decisive military action was in explicit retaliation for recent rocket assaults on American personnel stationed at Patrol Base Shaddadi.
In a statement shared on social media, US CENTCOM confirmed the strikes were aimed at crippling the militia's weapons storage and logistics facilities. The Command emphasized that the US facilities and forces remained unscathed, asserting that such strikes would hinder the militia's future attack capabilities against US and Coalition forces conducting anti-ISIS operations in the region.
General Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander of US Central Command, issued a stern warning reflecting the US's firm stance on defense. He reiterated that any threats to US personnel, allies, and regional stability would be vigorously countered. Additionally, it was revealed that the prior week saw similar US Air Force and Navy operations targeting Iran-backed Houthi weapons facilities in Yemen, in response to attacks on international shipping.
