In an impassioned address at COP29 in Baku, Sadhguru, the renowned spiritual leader, has drawn attention to the crucial issue of soil health, which he asserts is fundamental for the sustainability of life on Earth. During an interview with Reuters, he articulated concerns over the declining populations of microorganisms vital to ecological balance, emphasizing that their loss could undermine all life forms.
Sadhguru highlighted the broader implications of environmental degradation, clarifying that sustaining human life is intrinsically linked to the thriving of microbial, insect, and other smaller life forms. He eloquently illustrated this interconnectedness, stating, "If the microbial life, insect life, worm life, and every other small life doesn't live strong, we will not live strong." His remarks underscore the urgent need for a paradigm shift in ecological awareness and action.
The spiritual guru, who founded the global "Save Soil" initiative, called for immediate attention to soil degradation at the international climate conference, noting its recent inclusion in global environmental discussions. He asserts that cultivating a "green world" involves far more than just forest restoration, with every new green leaf contributing significantly to climate mitigation efforts. This year's COP29 agenda aims to enhance financial transparency and support vulnerable regions, amidst the growing unpredictability of climate extremes.
