Nationwide Uproar: PTI Rallies for Imran Khan's Release

In a bold move against the incumbent government, Asad Qaiser, a senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), revealed plans on Thursday to mobilize protests throughout Pakistan. The strategy involves uniting political parties at both national and provincial levels to demand the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Express Tribune reports.

Earlier this day, six PTI leaders were blocked from meeting Khan as prison officials insisted on a written commitment to avoid political discussions. Party members claim this is part of a broader campaign to strip Khan of basic rights, amid the strict visitation bans imposed by the Pakistan Punjab government before the SCO summit, which were only lifted after legal pushback on October 26.

Speaking outside Adiala Jail, Qaiser blasted the ruling government as 'fascist', denouncing its claim to democratic ideals. He and other PTI officials criticized prohibitive measures that, they argue, are politically motivated and led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. They assert these restrictions reflect an authoritarian grip over the province.

Moreover, PTI Senate leader Shibli Faraz condemned the jail authorities for denying Imran Khan visits even after a court-supported approval. Faraz underscored that these efforts seemingly aimed to diminish Khan's morale but stated the PTI founder remains resilient.

Opposition Leader Omar Ayub demanded non-interference from the 'establishment and Form 47 government' while PTI leader Zartaj Gul accused the regime of irresponsible governance and urged global human rights bodies to inspect jail conditions.

In Lahore, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja intensified the call for protests, criticizing the 26th Constitutional Amendment concerning judicial reforms—a move strongly opposed by PTI. Pakistan's political landscape is fraught with tension, aggravated by ongoing economic distress and allegations surrounding Khan's imprisonment, drawing widespread condemnation.
