The United Arab Emirates has vocally condemned the Israeli parliament's decision to pass two controversial laws that effectively block the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Enacted by the Knesset, these laws prevent UNRWA from delivering essential humanitarian aid to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which includes East Jerusalem.
The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an official statement, criticized the new legislation as a breach of the UN Charter and international standards. They warned that these restrictions could significantly worsen the dire humanitarian conditions in the region, emphasizing the urgency for UNRWA and other UN bodies to continue their critical aid work promptly and safely.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and justice, the UAE urged international cooperation to advance the Middle East peace process. The Ministry highlighted the importance of supporting regional and worldwide efforts to halt illegal actions undermining the two-state solution, advocating for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state while protecting Palestinian rights.
