In a recent statement, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman reiterated his call for fresh elections in Pakistan, describing them as vital for the nation's 'salvation'. Addressing reporters, Rehman emphasized the need for free and fair elections, urging the establishment to maintain neutrality throughout the process.
Criticizing the current government for what he terms a 'fake' mandate, Rehman insisted that new elections are the only path forward. He also demanded the release of political prisoners, raising concerns over the detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Discussing the 26th constitutional amendment, Rehman claimed his party played a crucial role in reducing its clauses from 56 to 27, securing 11 additional votes. Criticizing the 2024 election results, which he alleged were marred by rigging, Rehman called for re-elections to preserve democratic integrity.
At a Karachi rally, he accused assemblies of being 'sold' and blamed the government for unfavorable foreign policies, particularly regarding Israel and Palestine. Rahman affirmed JUI-F's ongoing commitment to constitutional governance, vowing to continue this struggle for future generations.
