The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections have brought the issue of the 26th Amendment to the forefront, with legal professionals, led by Hamid Khan, expressing strong opposition. According to ARY News, the amendment is viewed as a grave attack on the constitution, unsettling the judicial framework.

Hamid Khan, a notable legal figure, reiterated to ARY News that the amendment has disrupted the country's judicial system. The SCBA elections on Tuesday have seen a mighty turnout with lawyers voicing their commitment to repealing the amendment through a concerted campaign to restore judicial independence.

With voting underway, more than 4,000 voters are participating, hailing from major cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar. Meanwhile, tensions erupted at the All Pakistan Lawyers Convention, reflecting broader dissent in the legal community against the proposed judicial reforms tied to the amendment, ANI and Dawn report.
