The United Nations has issued a renewed plea to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza, focusing on the immediate release of hostages, cessation of Palestinian displacement, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. This urgent appeal comes amid a rapidly deteriorating situation, with the UN highlighting the pressing need for action.
UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, expressed grave concern over the intensifying humanitarian crisis, stating that Gaza is becoming an increasingly dangerous place. In the north, horrifying scenes are emerging due to relentless Israeli airstrikes, with recent reports indicating scores of civilian casualties, especially in Beit Lahia.
Condemning ongoing civilian attacks, Wennesland stressed the need for immediate action, urging for an end to the war and for Hamas to release their hostages. He emphasized that efforts must be made to protect civilians and cease the displacement of Palestinians, with Wennesland calling for courage, political will, and renewed dialogue to pave the way for peace.
