Rawalpindi is witnessing a severe dengue outbreak, with 93 new cases reported in just 24 hours, raising this year's total to 3,461, according to ARY News. The health department has confirmed 11 dengue-related deaths in the city so far.
Amid an alarming rise, authorities have intensified efforts, sealing 1,716 buildings where larvae were found and imposing fines amounting to PKR 19.85 million. The Deputy Commissioner has declared a dengue emergency as a more dangerous virus strain spreads rapidly.
Emergency counters in hospitals and mobile teams are actively working to control the mosquito population. The situation is critical, exacerbated by insufficient resources and healthcare facilities, particularly in regions like Gilgit-Baltistan, where basic amenities are sorely lacking.
