Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi following a two-day diplomatic mission to Laos, where he took part in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit. He characterized the visit as 'productive,' aligning with India's ongoing commitment to enhancing its partnerships with ASEAN nations.
Expressing gratitude to Lao PDR, PM Modi highlighted the visit's alignment with India's strategic objectives of fostering peace, prosperity, and sustainable growth in the region. This mission coincides with the upcoming 10th anniversary of India's Act East Policy, an initiative aimed at reinforcing ties throughout Southeast Asia.
During the Summits, PM Modi convened with ASEAN leaders to evaluate the progress in their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The East Asia Summit provided a platform to discuss regional challenges impacting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. Additionally, Modi's engagements underscored India's close cultural ties with the region, underpinned by shared traditions such as Buddhism and Ramayana.
