As tensions in West Asia escalate, Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is looking towards India as a potential mediator in the crisis. Alex Gandler, Deputy spokesperson for the ministry, hailed the country's 'voice of reason' and its significance as a regional partner, highlighting India's potential role in calming the volatile situation.

Gandler stressed the importance of directing a 'message of calm' towards Iran. In an exclusive interview with ANI, he called for Iran to stop its aggression and rhetoric against Israel. He critiqued current mediation efforts for siding with Iran and urged for a concerted message demanding Tehran halt its hostilities.

The urgency stems from recent violent incidents, including a sudden offensive by Hamas in October 2023 that prompted Israel to launch counter attacks on Gaza. Israeli responses aim at dismantling Hamas infrastructure, with recorded fatalities from Gaza's health ministry soaring above 35,000. The ongoing hostilities have spilled over to involve Yemen's Houthi rebels, escalating regional instability.

Reuven Azar, Israel's Ambassador to India, also spoke at a recent commemoration event in New Delhi, marking the anniversary of Hamas' shocking attack in October. He conveyed Israel's determination to retrieve hostages held by Hamas and expressed gratitude for India's ongoing support in these strained times.

Ambassador Azar condemned the violence and described the brutality of the attacks, emphasizing the need for international cooperation in restoring peace and safety. India's partnership in seeking regional stability, and addressing the humanitarian crises resulting from the conflict, remains valued by Israel.
