The Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) unequivocally denounced the forcible offloading of Baloch rights activist Mahrang Baloch by Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency. Baloch was set to attend an event in New York hosted by Time magazine to honor 100 global leaders when she was barred from boarding her flight.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), known for its commitment to human rights and justice, particularly against enforced disappearances and alleged genocidal actions by Pakistani forces, described the incident as a significant infringement on her fundamental human rights. They highlighted that her rights to free movement, expression, and association were violated under both national and international legal frameworks.
Sohail Abro, leader of JSFM, called on the United Nations and global human rights monitors to address the issue, urging them to pressure Pakistan into halting oppressive measures against human rights defenders. He emphasized that these actions undermine justice, freedom, and Pakistan's international human rights obligations. Abro stressed the need for global accountability to safeguard individuals like Mahrang Baloch, who defend human dignity and justice.
Similar incidents have occurred, including when activist Sammi Deen Baloch was barred at Karachi airport en route to Oman. Her name was reportedly on the 'no-fly list.' Sammi Deen has been a vocal advocate for Baloch rights, spotlighting forced disappearances and extrajudicial actions in the region. (ANI)
