The Ministry of External Affairs provided insights into External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar's official visit to Sri Lanka during its weekly briefing. MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reported that Jaishankar met with his Sri Lankan counterpart and conveyed India's intent to enhance the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
During his visit, Jaishankar engaged in detailed discussions with Sri Lankan leaders, focusing on various regional issues, including freedom of navigation in the South China Sea. He emphasized India's commitment to peaceful dispute resolution and adherence to an international rule-based order.
Jaishankar's meeting with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Colombo reinforced warm bilateral ties, with discussions centering on economic recovery and mutual cooperation.
