Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a bilateral meeting with Jamaican counterpart Andrew Holness in New Delhi. Following the bilateral meeting, delegation-level talks took place between the two leaders.

The visiting Jamaican Prime Minister met PM Modi at Hyderabad House, marking his first official visit to India from September 30 to October 3. This visit also holds significance as the first-ever bilateral visit of a Jamaican Prime Minister to India.

Prior to this meeting, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Holness had met several times on the sidelines of multilateral meetings. Earlier in the day, Holness paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

The Ministry of External Affairs shared pictures and stated, "Honoring 'Father of the Nation'! PM @AndrewHolnessJM of Jamaica offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat today." Andrew Holness arrived in New Delhi on Monday at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was warmly received by Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary.

India and Jamaica share strong historical and cultural links, as reflected in their shared colonial past, values of democracy and freedom, and passion for cricket. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this visit aims to bolster bilateral relations, enhance economic cooperation, and solidify the longstanding bonds between Jamaica and India.
