In the wake of a devastating cylinder explosion in Hyderabad that resulted in the loss of 27 lives, the Sindh government has announced a stringent crackdown on illegal gas cylinder shops across the province, according to ARY News.

The Sindh Home Department immediately issued directives to district administrations, demanding action against shopkeepers operating gas cylinders unlawfully. The department emphasized that these shops should not be situated in crowded or residential zones but moved to less populated areas, as per ARY News.

A letter issued to the deputy commissioners instructed that illegal LNG and LPG shops be relocated outside city limits. It also mandated the confiscation of substandard cylinders and the adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by federal authorities to ensure public safety, ARY News reported.

As gas distribution issues persist, the availability and illegal supply of gas in Sindh remains a concern, especially with the specter of cylinder explosions looming large. The Sindh government is grappling with multiple challenges, including ensuring a safe gas supply and addressing the rising number of gas explosion incidents. (ANI)
