CAIRO [Egypt], October 1 (ANI/WAM): Egypt has condemned the shelling of the UAE Ambassador's residence in Khartoum, Sudan, labeling it a flagrant violation of international law and the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which ensures the inviolability of diplomatic premises.
In a statement issued Monday night, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law to protect civilians and diplomatic premises. A day earlier, the UAE had strongly condemned the attack, reportedly launched by a Sudanese army aircraft, which caused significant damage to the building. The UAE called on the Sudanese army to assume full responsibility for what it described as a cowardly act.
The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced plans to submit a formal complaint to the League of Arab States, the African Union, and the United Nations, emphasizing the necessity of protecting diplomatic buildings and staff residences as per international treaties. The Ministry condemned such criminal acts and reiterated its opposition to violence and terrorism, which threaten stability and contravene international law.
