INS Talwar and KNS Shujaa Strengthen Maritime Security in Joint Exercise

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Talwar and Kenyan Navy Ship (KNS) Shujaa engaged in a Maritime Partnership Exercise at sea, marking the conclusion of INS Talwar's port visit to Mombasa. The exercise included Joint EEZ Surveillance along the Kenyan coast, signaling enhanced interoperability between the two navies.
During the visit, naval personnel from both countries participated in various professional interactions and cross-exchange visits. The Indian Ministry of Defence emphasized the growing ties with East Africa, in line with the Prime Minister's SAGAR vision. INS Talwar's Commanding Officer also met with Kenya's Deputy Commander of the Navy at Mtongwe Naval Base to discuss ongoing cooperation.
Professional exchanges such as VBSS and NBCD demonstrations, as well as Yoga and Sports fixtures, were held onboard INS Talwar. The crew also visited a local orphanage as part of an outreach program. The visit culminated with joint exercises that underscored the collaborative maritime security efforts outlined in the BAHARI Joint Vision Statement of December 2023.
