In a decisive move, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have announced the elimination of Muhammad Hussein Srour, the commander of Hezbollah's Aerial Command, during a precision airstrike in Beirut. The IDF shared this significant update on X, stating, 'Eliminated: Commander of Hezbollah's Aerial Command, Muhammad Hussein Srour, in a precise IAF strike in Beirut.'
The IDF further emphasized that Srour was responsible for numerous aerial terrorist actions aimed at Israeli civilians. 'Srour executed several terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers using UAVs and explosive devices,' they stated. 'In recent years, he led the manufacturing of UAVs in southern Lebanon and established intelligence-gathering sites near civilian areas,' the statement added.
Srour's role extended beyond aerial command; he also served as the commander of the surface-to-air missile unit and the 'Aziz' Unit of the Radwan Force. Additionally, he was Hezbollah's emissary to Yemen's Houthi regime. Meanwhile, with tensions spiraling between Israel and Lebanon, the US has advocated for a 21-day ceasefire on the Israel-Lebanon border to foster diplomatic efforts, supported by defense officials from the US, UK, and Australia.
