Washington, DC, September 24 (ANI/WAM): UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently visited Washington DC's National Children's Hospital to observe its pioneering contributions in pediatric healthcare. His visit affirms the UAE's enduring support and commitment to the institution.

The hospital's landmark Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation was established with a generous USD 150 million donation from the UAE. Additionally, the UAE pledged another USD 30 million to support the Children's National Research & Innovation Campus. Touring the advanced facilities, Sheikh Mohamed learned about the state-of-the-art Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Command Center, which uses sophisticated artificial intelligence to monitor patients and prevent critical events such as cardiac arrests. The center also fosters global telemedicine collaborations, extending consultations to medical experts in Abu Dhabi and at the UAE field hospital in Gaza.

Furthermore, Sheikh Mohamed was briefed on innovative developments at the Sheikh Zayed Institute, including a miniature pacemaker designed for infants, which has already been implemented in over 40 pediatric cases. His visit included interactions with Emirati children receiving treatment at the hospital, where he conveyed his best wishes for their swift recovery and reiterated the UAE's commitment to healthcare. Accompanying His Highness were various senior officials, including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and UAE Ambassador to the United States, Yousef Al Otaiba.
