Jorgan K. Andrews, Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy, addressed the 21st Indo-US Economic Summit in New Delhi.
Andrews highlighted the significant progress made by India and the US in climate change mitigation and energy transition, noting that it contributes to a healthier planet and generates green jobs. He emphasized that the India-US relationship is deepening and widening in all aspects. He warned that the failure to address climate change could impact the collective prosperity of both nations.
'The impact on our collective prosperity if we do not solve these climate change problems together is profound. Together, I think we are doing some amazing things both at the government level and in the private sector to reduce emissions and help India find a growth path that does not exacerbate global climate challenges. These efforts will also create the well-paying green jobs we all want to see,' Andrews stated. His remarks followed recent discussions between Prime Minister Modi and US President Biden at the QUAD Summit.
Andrews also underscored the role of business in strengthening US-India ties. 'The bilateral cooperation between India and the US encompasses trade, investment, defense, security, education, science and technology, cyber security, and high technology, promising a better future for citizens. Business plays a pivotal role in fostering stronger ties and paving the way for a more prosperous future,' he added.
Additionally, Andrews mentioned that the India-US Commercial Dialogue and CEOs Forum will be held next week in the US, co-chaired by Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. 'Next week, Minister of Commerce and Industry Goyal will be in Washington to meet with his counterpart, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. They will co-chair the US-India commercial dialogue and CEO forum, crucial links between government and industry that help build out our partnership,' he said. (ANI)
