Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a three-day visit to the United States, met with President Joe Biden on Saturday morning at the latter's personal residence. The bilateral discussion aims to address pressing issues concerning China and Russia.

The US delegation includes Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, and Ambassador Eric Garcetti. The Indian representation features External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

This could mark the last bilateral meeting between Modi and Biden due to Biden's term ending soon. The 2024 US Presidential Election is set for November 5, with Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate running against Republican contender Donald Trump. Jake Sullivan noted that the Ukraine conflict and India's stance on Russia and China will be prominent topics. The leaders will also deliberate on China's actions in the Indo-Pacific and the strategic goals of the Quad summit focusing on a free and open Indo-Pacific.

The upcoming Quad summit with leaders from Australia and Japan will review progress and set future goals for the Indo-Pacific region. The engagements underscore India's and the US's commitments to regional security and developmental aspirations.
