Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down at Philadelphia International Airport on Saturday, beginning his three-day visit to the United States. Before departing India, Modi expressed excitement about meeting President Biden and other Quad leaders—Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida—to discuss Indo-Pacific peace and prosperity.
Modi emphasized that his engagement with Biden will focus on advancing the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Defense cooperation remains a priority, alongside pathways to deepen bilateral ties. Notably, the U.S. stands as India's major trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $190.1 billion in 2023.
The agenda includes the annual Quad Summit in Wilmington with the participation of the Quad leaders. The meeting underscores the commitment to an inclusive and resilient Indo-Pacific. Modi will also address the Indian diaspora, attend a Business Roundtable with top U.S. CEOs, and join the UN's Summit of the Future in New York, focusing on multilateral solutions for global challenges.
