Salman Akram Raja, the newly appointed secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has voiced skepticism regarding Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman's capacity to meet governmental expectations, according to an ARY News report. Raja stated that despite the administration's confidence that eight JUI-F members would support them, Maulana Fazlur Rehman is unlikely to endorse the constitutional amendment, describing such action as a betrayal of the nation.

Raja indicated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who is well-informed on the issue, has been briefed. He asserted that it would be unconstitutional for the Prime Minister to decide on the appointment of the Chief Justice unilaterally.

Raja projected that the constitutional amendment, once completed, will undergo judicial review and could be nullified if it conflicts with the constitution's core principles. He highlighted that, as per Article 63A, party members cannot vote against party directions, criticizing the government's attempt to alter this statute as a clear violation. Additionally, Raja noted that any dissenting votes would not be counted by the Speaker. (ANI)
