EAD Highlights Biodiversity Initiatives at 10th IUCN Regional Conservation Forum
The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi showcased its biodiversity preservation efforts at the 10th IUCN Regional Conservation Forum in Riyadh, featuring key projects, technological advancements, and strategic initiatives to restore and protect marine and terrestrial ecosystems.

Abu Dhabi [UAE], September 12 (ANI/WAM): The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) marked its presence at the 10th International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Regional Conservation Forum in Riyadh, led by Secretary-General Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri. The agency's commitment to biodiversity preservation was a focal point.
Highlighted were EAD's significant projects in marine biodiversity monitoring, plant resource rehabilitation, and endangered wildlife restoration, including the Arabia to Africa initiative. The use of drones for mangrove restoration was also showcased. Shaikha participated in panel discussions on IUCN's 2026-2029 programme and the establishment of the Zayed Network of Protected Areas.
In another session, Shaikha emphasized the 'Nature-based Solutions for Climate, Biodiversity and People' project that focuses on blue carbon sinks. Additionally, Abu Dhabi's 2021 coral restoration programme and the inaugural sea cages aquaculture project with AI monitoring were discussed. Salim Javid, Division Director of Terrestrial Biodiversity, spoke on conservation standards in West Asia.
