US President Joe Biden, commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks at a fire station, briefly wore a red hat reading 'TRUMP 2024'. The White House described this as a gesture of bipartisan unity. According to a White House spokesperson, Biden discussed how the nation unified after the attacks and emphasized the need to return to that spirit. Biden handed a hat to a man wearing a Trump cap, who in turn gave Biden his hat to wear briefly, reported CNN.

President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump, and Senator JD Vance attended a 9/11 commemoration event at Ground Zero in Manhattan, New York. On Wednesday, all four political figures gathered at Ground Zero to mark the somber occasion.

In a positive gesture, Trump and Harris shook hands just hours after their heated presidential debate on Tuesday night. However, Vance and Harris did not interact. Following the ceremony in New York, Harris and Biden traveled to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Flight 93 memorial.

During the Shanksville ceremony, Biden placed his hand on the wreath as his small group bowed their heads. The President and Vice President also visited a local Shanksville volunteer fire station that served as a key gathering point for families in 2001. Biden observed a cross made from plane scraps and made the sign of the cross before meeting affected families.

Inside the fire station, Biden briefly wore the Trump hat again as an apparent symbol of bipartisan unity. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the deadliest terror attack in US history when Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four planes, crashing two into the Twin Towers, one into the Pentagon, and the fourth in a Pennsylvania field as passengers tried to thwart the hijacking.

Earlier, President Biden reaffirmed the nation's resolve to protect American lives and prevent future terrorist attacks. He stated, 'On this day 23 years ago, terrorists believed they could break our will. They were wrong... They failed. But we must remain vigilant. Our longest war is finally over, but our commitment to preventing another attack on our people never will be. We will continue to disrupt terrorist networks and deliver justice to those who plot against America, as we did with Osama bin Laden in 2011 and Ayman al-Zawahiri in 2022.'

Vice President Kamala Harris, a 2024 presidential candidate, also paid tribute to the victims, saying, 'Today is a day of solemn remembrance. We mourn the souls lost in a heinous terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, and stand in solidarity with their families and loved ones.' (ANI)
