In a decisive response to a surge of rockets launched from Lebanon, Israel's military struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. The retaliatory measures followed the firing of dozens of rockets from Lebanese soil, according to Israeli military sources.

Israeli air defenses intercepted approximately 65 of these rockets. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed via a post on platform X, stating, 'Approx. 65 projectiles were fired from Lebanese territory crossing into northern Israel.'

The post further mentioned, 'In response, the IDF is currently striking Hezbollah terrorist targets in southern Lebanon.' This escalation follows an earlier incident on August 25, where the Iran-backed Hezbollah group fired over 200 rockets and drones towards Israel's northern border. This was reportedly in retaliation for the assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut.

In a coordinated offensive early Sunday, Israel targeted about 1,000 Hezbollah rocket launchers with 100 fighter jets, significantly disrupting the planned attack, according to reports from the Times of Israel. The Israeli military also conducted strikes on Northern Gaza.

In the northern Gaza Strip, at least six Palestinian civilians were killed by Israeli artillery shellfire on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported, citing medical sources. Witnesses claimed an artillery shell hit a group of people in the Sheikh Zayed Towers area as they attempted to get an internet signal.

'The bodies of six people were transferred to the Indonesian and Kemal Adwan hospitals in northern Gaza,' the medical source confirmed, according to Anadolu Agency. (ANI)
