During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Brunei, the two countries agreed to enhance cooperation in defence, space, and people-to-people ties. This historic meeting included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on the operation of telemetry, tracking, and telecommand stations for satellites and launch vehicles.

Prime Minister Modi and Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah held productive bilateral discussions and welcomed the establishment of a direct flight connection between Bandar Seri Begawan and Chennai. A joint statement was released following their talks, reaffirming the commitment to enhance various aspects of bilateral relations including trade, investment, and climate action.

Both leaders underscored the importance of mutual cooperation in combating terrorism and enhancing maritime security. They called for the adherence to international laws and principles to maintain regional stability and prosperity. The historic visit, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties, is expected to further strengthen India's Act East Policy and vision for the Indo-Pacific.
