Modi's Singapore Visit: A New Era in India-Singapore Relations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's forthcoming visit to Singapore aims to strengthen the bond between India and Singapore. This visit, happening early in Modi's third term, is expected to solidify discussions from the recent India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, paving the way for collaboration in trade, green technology, and more.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's imminent visit to Singapore is set to bolster the ties between India and Singapore, moving their relationship into a new era, the Indian envoy to Singapore, Shilpak Ambule, stated on Tuesday. Speaking with ANI, Ambule noted that the discussions from the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) on August 27 have laid the foundation for this evolving partnership.
'It is a very important visit happening very early on in Prime Minister Modi's third tenure and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's tenure,' Ambule emphasized. The visit aims to advance trade, investment, green technology, and sustainability. Such topics will dominate Modi's meetings with Singaporean leaders.
'Bilateral trade has more than doubled in the past decade,' Ambule noted, adding that India would encourage Singapore to invest more in emerging sectors like logistics and real estate. Singapore remains India's largest trade partner in Asia, with recent figures showing $36.6 billion in bilateral trade.
