In a landmark event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a historic visit to Brunei on Tuesday, marking the first official visit by an Indian PM to the nation. The Indian High Commissioner to Brunei, Alok Amitabh Dimri, highlighted the civilizational ties that have long existed between the two countries.

During the two-day visit, PM Modi is scheduled to engage in high-level discussions with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and members of the Royal Family. Dimri stated that the visit, which is slated for September 3rd and 4th, is a significant moment in the four decades of diplomatic relationships between India and Brunei.

The Prime Minister's visit aims to deepen the historical, cultural, and economic ties between the two nations. Notably, India has a space station in Brunei, assisting ISRO with key launches. The Indian diaspora, including various communities like Tamilians, Malyalis, Sindhis, Punjabis, Marathas, and Gujaratis, has made significant contributions to Brunei's society.
