Jamil Maqsood, the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP), has sounded the alarm over persistent human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). Maqsood has urged the international human rights community to intervene and hold Pakistan accountable for these severe abuses.

Maqsood's statement points to extraconstitutional and unlawful activities by Pakistani authorities in PoJK, particularly by its intelligence services and security forces. He accuses them of misusing blasphemy laws to suppress dissent and target critical activists, resulting in involuntary disappearances and illegal detentions.

The UKPNP leader has appealed to international organizations, including the United Nations Human Rights Council and the European Parliament, to address these abuses and push for the release of detained activists. Additionally, he calls on the diplomatic community in Islamabad to use their influence to protect basic human rights in the region.

This statement serves as a call to action for global leaders and institutions to address the ongoing human rights crisis in PoJK, where the local population faces severe repression and a denial of fundamental freedoms. Maqsood emphasized the need for international scrutiny of the PoJK administration and a world powers' intervention to prevent further human rights violations.

The UKPNP has consistently highlighted human rights violations in PoJK. During their two-day annual central convention in Kotli, UKPNP leader Sajid Hussain pointed out the challenges, including the misuse of the territory for terrorism. He stressed the role of peaceful protests in achieving equality, freedom, and democratic rights in the region.

Sajid Hussain declared that their struggle would persist under all conditions. He affirmed the commitment to peaceful and diplomatic protests, noting that recent attempts to turn the protests violent had failed. Hussain stressed that harm to any PoJK resident affects the entire community, pledging to continue their efforts for rights, equality, and democracy. (ANI)
