Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned from Ukraine, where he met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reaffirmed India's commitment to a constructive, solution-oriented approach to achieve peace between Russia and Ukraine.

In a weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stressed India's willingness to play a constructive role, emphasizing that the decision to initiate peace talks lies with the conflicting parties. Jaiswal also highlighted India's extensive outreach to both Russia and Ukraine.

When queried about India's role in a potential peace summit, Jaiswal reiterated the country's stance on supporting any feasible and mutually acceptable solution or format. He noted that discussions during PM Modi's high-level visit to Ukraine would guide India's approach towards resolving the conflict.

Jaiswal further stated that the Ukrainian side could share their views with the media, but India's stance would be shaped by bilateral discussions. He underscored that PM Modi has always championed dialogue as the only solution.

During his bilateral meeting with Zelenskyy, PM Modi clarified that India has never been neutral but consistently advocates for peace. Zelenskyy expressed confidence in India's role in bringing peace to the conflict-ridden region and highlighted India's potential influence over Russia.

Speaking in Kyiv, President Zelenskyy underscored India's ability to halt Russian aggression and highlighted India's influence in resolving the conflict. India's longstanding position has been to call for dialogue and diplomacy to end the war. (ANI)
